Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute Lessons
Interested in learning fun music on saxophone, clarinet, or flute? Students love playing a wide array of music in my woodwind lessons.
I'm Lincoln Herring, and experienced music educator in Decatur, GA. I share the joy of music through teaching my students their favorite songs, as well as introducing them to lots of fun music they might not have heard of before.
In my music lessons, we focus on the intersection of musicianship with proper technique. In beginning woodwind instruction, we learn music from the classical canon and folk music from around the world. I also introduce music my students are passionate about, including music from Broadway, Marvel, Disney, or their favorite bands.
My flute, clarinet, and saxophone students also learn concert music by the great composers of history, including Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Preparing for an audition? I can teach you the tools to master your next audition. I also introduce my students to improvising music. By exploring the jazz tradition, students gain valuable skills in thinking creatively while creating beautiful music. I help students master the fundamentals of improvisation.
I have experience teaching flute, clarinet, and saxophone students in their first years of private lesson instruction. Curious for more information about my teaching experience? View my Bio here.
Performance Opportunities
I provide recital opportunities for all of my private students. Parent love witnessing their children learn valuable practice skills and succeed in performance opportunities. Students gain self confidence through performing their favorite songs in recitals. Since COVID began, we've already had two online recitals, which have been a complete success. Online recitals allow family members and loved ones from all over the globe to attend!
When Is The Right Age?
I recommend students age 9 and older who are interested in private woodwind instruction to try out a lesson! I do not recommend students age 8 and younger begin woodwind lessons because young children are still losing baby teeth.
